Roswell is exceedingly proud of its award winning Recreation and Parks Department. With more than 900 acres of parkland around the city, these facilities have long been a major draw to families moving into the area. With countless nature trails, bike trails, river walks, dance studios and sports facilities, citizens of all ages are able to find activities to suite their own interests.
Roswell Rec and Parks was awarded the Georgia Recreation and Parks Agency of the Year numerous times over the last 30 years. It has been nominated for the Gold Medal award by the National Parks and Recreation Association on three different occasions. This is the highest award a Parks and Rec system can receive, and Roswell has ranked among the top four in the entire country each time. The dedicated staff is meticulous in the care of the park facilities so that citizens in all parts of Roswell may utilize first-class amenities.
With only a few weeks of intense heat and even fewer cold spells per year, citizens are able to enjoy the outdoor amenities of the parks in every season. Furthermore, you are likely to find a group, team or club that shares your interest, be it hiking, cycling, bird watching, canoeing, skating, fishing, the list stretches on and on. Those who prefer indoor activities may have their pick as well. Alongside recreational sport and activity, the arts are well represented in the parks with exhibits, performances and classes.
