Let’s get to know Debra Ewing, Business Development & Outreach Coordinator at Roswell Inc.
Q: Describe yourself in 3 words
A: Enthusiastic. Positive. Determined.
Q: What can we find you doing on a day off?
A: On a day off, you can find me playing with my grandchildren, either going to lacrosse games or going to riding events.
Q: Describe your dream vacation?
A: My dream vacation would be going to Europe. I would love to see England, France or Spain.
Q: What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your resume alone?
A: I used to make all of my clothes: jackets, pants, and skirts. I tried bathing suits, and that didn’t work very well.
Q: As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A: I wanted to be an occupational therapist. In grade school we had a career day, and I thought it sounded so interesting.
Q: If you were on an island and could only bring three things, what would you bring?
A: If this were a deserted island, I would bring my makeup, clothes and shoes, and a hairbrush.
Q: Where would you go in a time machine?
A: I would go back to pioneer times. I would like to be an early settler. Taking care of a family, being so determined, and seeing the country for the first time would have been so interesting.
Q: What superpower would you like to have?
A: I would like to be a super-speeder. Then I wouldn’t be late to any meetings, events, lacrosse games, riding tournaments, or Roswell City Council meetings.
Q: What makes you the happiest?
A: My family.
Q: What would be your best advice?
A: Be patient, whether in your career or in your personal life, and persevere.
Q: Describe your role at Roswell Inc?
A: I’m a problem solver. I like solving problems and helping businesses go through the process at the city, or even small issues for startups.
Q: How would you describe this job to a child?
A: I help the candy store open, and stay open, so that my granddaughter can walk down from middle school and get her candy.
Q: What is your favorite part about your job?
A: I love meeting people who are entrepreneurs. It is fascinating to hear people’s stories about how they decided to pursue a career. I am really impressed with all the people I meet.
Q: What is your favorite event that Roswell Inc does or has done?
A: I think the Connects … they are really fun. I see people talking about their businesses and they’re excited, and it’s cool to see all the entrepreneurs together.
