Staff Profile: Steve Stroud
Q: Describe yourself in 3 words
A: Excited. Colorful. Bright.
Q: What can we find you doing on a day off?
A: On a day off, usually you’ll find me in the yard. If I can work in my yard with my flowers, or grooming my yard, I love to be outside.
Q: Describe your dream vacation?
A: A dream vacation would be somewhere in the South Pacific, hopefully sailing on a catamaran, or being on a beach.
Q: What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your resume alone?
A: The most interesting thing not on my resume would probably be the days I was a camp counselor. Loved being a camp counselor in high school and college. It was a great opportunity to work with kids and spend time on Lake Michigan.
Q: As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A: When I was a kid, I always wanted to be a firefighter, and not just a fireman, but an oil well firefighter. I thought that was just the coolest thing. I saw a movie one time with John Wayne called “Hellfighters,” and I thought it was a really a cool thing, and thought if you’re going to be a fireman, you might as well go all out.
Q: If you were on an island and could only bring three things, what would you bring?
A: I would probably bring my family, then a good book and some sunscreen.
Q: Where would you go in a time machine?
A: I would definitely have to go back to the late 50s and 60s: Havana, Las Vegas, Miami, the Rat Pack days with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis.
Q: What superpower would you like to have?
A: I would want to be Spiderman and fly through the buildings, no doubt.
Q: What makes you the happiest?
A: Probably the happiest is when I’m spending time with my family. I love to go to the beach, but I’m happiest spending time with them.
Q: What would be your best advice?
A: Stay in the moment, take advantage of the moment, be present and don’t worry about the future. You have to keep the future in mind, but you also have to live today. We spend an enormous amount of energy worrying about what will happen tomorrow, and we forget to enjoy what we’re doing right here, right now.
Q: Describe your role at Roswell Inc?
A: My role at Roswell Inc is to facilitate relationships, introduce people to each other, and try to create a better community for my kids, for the people that live here, and for the future.
Q: How would you describe this job to a child?
A: If there was a little kid here, I would say that my job is to make sure that the ice cream shop opens, and stays open, so that we can have ice cream every day.
Q: What is your favorite part about your job?
A: My favorite part about my job is helping people meet their dreams by opening their business, being successful, or solving a problem that helps them get to the next level so that they can really be and achieve the things they want to achieve with their business.
Q: What is your favorite event that Roswell Inc does or has done?
A: By far, my favorite event is the Connects. Connects have brought more people together, more businesses to do business with each other, and built more relationships than probably anything we’ve done, because it brings the business community and residential community together. It helps to see what services are offered here, and it truly brings that sense of pride that you can showcase your business, but more importantly you can meet others that do the same kind of business that you do day to day in Roswell.
