East Alley Pathway Opens in Historic District

By April 26, 2018News

The East Alley Pathway is officially open! This area is an “L” shaped alley that intersects the west side of Canton Street and south side of Norcross Street. The City of Roswell celebrated the completion of the East Alley Improvement Project, which is the first phase of the East-West Alley Master Plan, on Thursday, April 19.

The project made the alleyway both pedestrian and business friendly through brick paver sidewalks, buried utilities, new outdoor lighting, and a refinished roadway with removable bollards to block traffic and make the area walkable. The changes will also improve water runoff and collection for the Chattahoochee River. In addition to these added features, a small parking lot with 18 metered parking spots are now available for public use.

All improvements enhance the walkability and continuity of Roswell’s Historic District, creating yet another destination location. Businesses with store fronts located on Canton Street and Elizabeth Way will now have the opportunity to use this new space behind their buildings for alley entrances, additional dining and shopping space, and the installation of public art.

Our team was honored to partner with the City and the local and regional business community to help make this project happen. We cannot wait to see how this new area opens up the Historic District and adds to the thriving business community located on the alley!
