For a long time, glass recycling has been a prolem. Even when we put glass bottles and jars in our recycling bins, a lot of it ends up getting thrown away because of contamination. That’s why Roswell loves Ripple Glass. Their story started with a brewery in Kansas City that was determined to create a zero-waste business. Now, they are making a huge difference right here in our community.

Ripple Glass makes recycling so easy and effective. When you drop off your glass in one of their distinct purple bins, it doesn’t just get shipped far away to a landfill. It stays right here in Georgia. The company takes the glass and turns it into a useful material called “cullet,” which local businesses then use to create new products, like energy-efficient fiberglass insulation. It’s a fantastic way to keep waste out of landfills and support our local economy at the same time.

Find a Purple Bin and Know What to Put Inside

Finding a Ripple Glass bin is simple. They have locations popping up all over the Atlanta metro area. Looking for a Purple Bin, use the link and scroll down for the finder feature! https://www.rippleglass.com/atl/

The rules are straightforward: if you can see through it, they can likely recycle it. This includes things like:

  • Glass bottles and jars (any color, with or without labels)
  • Drinking glasses, mason jars, and pint glasses
  • Candle jars (a little leftover wax is okay)
  • Glass from windows, shower doors, and tabletops (just remove any frames)
  • Leave out things like mirrors, light bulbs, and ceramics, as they can’t be recycled with the glass.

Supporting Our Favorite Local Businesses

Ripple Glass isn’t just for residents—they partner with local businesses, too. Some businesses even host a public purple bin, making it easy for their customers to recycle. For places with a lot of glass to get rid of, like bars and restaurants, Ripple offers a convenient commercial pickup service.

I’m particularly excited to highlight some of their partners right here in Roswell. The list includes favorites like Deep Roots Wine Bar, Roswell Junction, Truth Be Told, Madrid Spanish Taverna, Chattahoochee Nature Center, Bask Steakhouse, and From the Earth Brewing Company.

For business owners in the Atlanta or Roswell area who would like to learn more about how to become “Ripple Certified” and show their commitment to a greener community, you can reach out to Jamey at jamey@rippleglass.com.

We are also so grateful for Ripple’s sponsorship of our Summer Sippin’ Series this year! If you’d like to hear more about their commitment to sustainability, check out our Roswell Brew Talks episode with Jamey Moran from their team.
