Roswell, Ga. (Aug. 7, 2025) — The City of Roswell officially broke ground on its highly anticipated downtown parking deck on Thursday, August 7, marking a major step forward in the city’s commitment to enhancing access, supporting local businesses, and investing in the future of its historic downtown.

Located at 1054 Alpharetta Street, the new deck is funded through the City’s voter-approved bond program and is designed to meet the growing needs of residents, visitors, and businesses alike. Once complete in summer 2026, it will provide approximately 395 parking spaces—helping to alleviate congestion during peak shopping, dining, and event times and ensuring downtown remains vibrant and accessible for years to come.

“This parking deck is more than just a place to park—it’s a catalyst for growth,” said Mayor Kurt Wilson. “By investing in infrastructure like this, we’re strengthening our downtown economy, making it easier for residents and visitors to enjoy all that Roswell has to offer, and laying the groundwork for smart, sustainable growth well into the future.”

In a special announcement during the ceremony, Mayor Wilson shared that parking in the new downtown deck will be free for Roswell residents—another way the City is making it easier for the community to enjoy the heart of Roswell.

About the Parking Deck and Green Street Mobility Project

The downtown deck—situated at the corner of Green Street and Alpharetta Street (Hwy. 9)—will feature architectural elements that reflect the charm of Roswell’s Historic District, including a four-sided brick façade, large windows, and open-air features to maximize light, ventilation, and safety. Lush landscaping will add beauty to the site, while state-of-the-art technology will provide flexible operational options to meet future needs.

The project also includes the Green Street Activation Plan, approved by Roswell City Council, which will further enhance connectivity and walkability in the area. Plans call for converting Green Street to a one-way southbound road with a wide, brick-paved multi-use trail; adding improved lighting and landscaping; and transforming Plum Tree Street into a brick-paved trail providing direct access to Canton Street.

Together, these improvements represent a bold investment in infrastructure that will benefit the community today and for decades to come—strengthening Roswell’s economy, improving quality of life, and creating a more connected, accessible downtown.
